Thank you for taking the time to visit the Refined Sequence site! This blog will share helpful information and tips on refining ways to live more simply and sustainably.

The first weeks of the year provide a great time to reset yourself physically and mentally. Things quiet down after the busy holidays giving you more time to reconnect with yourself and look at the year ahead with anticipation of where it might take you. With February here do you feel motivated to keep up the good momentum you've built in January, or are you discouraged and want to just start all over again next year? Luckily there are plenty of opportunities to realign yourself throughout the year without having to wait until the start of the year. Every day can be a fresh start, every moment is a fresh beginning (T.S. Eliot). Keep that in mind this year 💛

Daily refinement tips

  • Clear your mind and create balance with meditation: If you are a new or an experienced meditator, the WakingUp app is a fantastic tool. Not only will you learn meditation techniques, the app provides a daily meditation and explains the theory behind meditation.

  • Unique gift giving with ease. The pandemic has introduced new challenges to gift giving, so to make thing easier check out Wonderkind Inc which has a selection of Canadian-made gift boxes. For each box purchased they donate a proportion to a charity of your choice. Select from their pre-set box options or complete a quiz about the intended recipient and they will create a custom box for you! (P.S. Valentine's Day is around the corner 💕). Add a personal note and have them delivered directly to your loved one.

  • Feel fantastic and keep going boozeless after January. I recently came across Boozeless Bliss, which has more positive approach to 'Dry January', after all the word dry doesn't have the same appeal as bliss! Follow the Boozeless Bliss Instagram account for inspiration and ideas to remain alcohol free. Gruvi also makes delicious near beer's that taste like the real thing - definitely give them a try.

  • Prioritize sleep - read Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. I'm amazed at how much sleep can impact our physical and mental health. Think a glass of wine helps you get a better sleep, or that you can function well on 6 hours of sleep? You might want to think again... If you're too busy to dive into all the details in the book, listen to Matthew talk about it on the Joe Rogan Podcast.
